Seeking Walls for a Historic Women’s Suffrage Mural
Portland Street Art Alliance is seeking large walls in Portland for an exciting opportunity to host a large-scale mural celebrating the women's suffrage movement as part of a prestigious national series.
Project Overview
PSAA is seeking a prominent wall location in Portland for a mural commemorating women's suffrage, featuring historically significant figures including Oregon's own Abigail Scott Duniway, known as "Oregon's Mother of Equal Suffrage." This project is part of the National Suffrage Mural Series, led by renowned co-directors Michelle Duster and Neysa Page-Lieberman of Monumenta.
Why This Matters
Less than 5% of public art features women or women-centered historical events
This free, accessible art strengthens representation of diverse women's histories
The project celebrates collective action toward civil rights and gender equality
Portland has a special connection through the project team's involvement with the Ida B. Wells School in Hillsdale
